Hi,

Can you believe it's been more than TWO MONTHS since my last newsletter! Woah! Time flies when you're having fun - which I am. I hope you are, too!

If you've just joined the newsletter, welcome. I hope it lives up to your expectations...

In today's issue:

  • Our new branding revealed!
  • Of pink tables, madmen and IP lawyers
  • Funny-shaped bread to disappear
  • Still waiting to buy a new computer?

Remember, I do value your feedback.
What's great about this newsletter? And what's stupid? email me.

New branding revealed - and I'm feeling smarter!

In the last newsletter I told you about my journey from 'guy working out of the spare room' to global multinational photography conglomerate, and how we are implementing a branding change which reflects this.

Well, it has quietly happened. Here it is:

On the web, we'll be at... you guessed it: www.smartshots.com.au. At the moment it's all still very much a 'work in progress', and it's business as usual for Steven Pam Photography.

Eventually Smartshots will be our corporate/product photography division and I'll continue to do aviation, editorial, and music shoots under my own name.

Of pink tables, madmen and IP lawyers

Here's some of what we've been up to - photographically - since the last newsletter,,,
Lawyers
Pink Table
Tim Anderson and Paul Wiegard
A few of the (many) partners of IP Lawyers Davies Collison Cave
The 'Barbie' table setting from a shoot for event decorators Theme from JAK at the lovely Sails on the Bay restaurant in Elwood
Madman Entertainment founders Tim Anderson and Paul Wiegard with an assortment of their little friends. Shot for Australian Anthill magazine

Funny-shaped bread to disappear

In my ongoing search to bring you the latest and most fascinating photography-related news, I discovered an article on "Food Production Daily" which I just had to share with you.

The article is entitled "Smart camera detects the misshapen, the off-colour" (damn, I wish I could write headlines like that - then I could stop using those silly puns!).

It's all about a new 3-D imaging device used on food production lines to detect abnormal products before they are packed.

But don't you think there's a perverse, inexplicable pleasure in finding odd-shaped breakfast cereal pieces or biscuits? I do. I'll miss that.

Are computers going to get any cheaper?

Well, I think we all know the answer to that ('yes'). But the price/feature ratio has now truly reached the point where you can get some decent grunt for not too many dollars. There's no excuse to keep putting off that upgrade!

I've bought three Dell computers in the last five years (two desktops and a notebook) and so I'm on their mailing list. Every couple of weeks there seems to be a new brochure with even better offers. You can find cheaper equipment in the Green Guide but I've been very happy with the reliability of the Dell machines (and I love buying stuff online), so here's a little plug for them (go on, you know you want one!): Dell Computer Australia.

They have some so-called "Awesome Spring Savings" (some of which expire tomorrow - sorry about that), so it's worth a look if you're in the market for a new computer.
